Prolia (Previously denosumab)

Prolia is a fully-human monoclonal antibody for the treatment of osteoporosis.

How is this medication given:

Prolia is an injection given every six months.

How does it work:

Prolia is designed to target RANK Ligand, a protein that acts as the primary signal to promote bone removal. Cells called osteoclasts need RANK Ligand to break down bone as part of the bone remodeling process. Prolia helps stop the development of bone-removing cells before they can reach the bones and cause damage.
